About this page
The information below is general background, not advice about your own condition. A physical therapist can only recommend a treatment plan after examining you in person. If you want a plan of care, book an initial evaluation — see our Self-Pay Prices page for the rate, or check your coverage on our Insurance page first.
Back pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people see a physical therapist. Most episodes ease within a few weeks with movement, activity modification and, for some patients, a course of guided exercise. Pain that spreads down a leg, comes with numbness or weakness, or follows a fall or injury should be evaluated by a clinician before starting a home exercise program.
We do not prescribe exercises for a specific back condition without first examining you — the right exercise for one person’s back pain can be the wrong one for another’s.
Balance and fall risk
Balance problems become more common with age, and a fall can lead to a serious injury. Warning signs worth discussing with a clinician include unsteadiness on stairs, a recent fall, or dizziness when standing up. Our vestibular and balance therapy program (South Clinic) is built around a full in-person assessment, not a general checklist.
Questions we cannot answer online
- Whether a specific pain is a particular diagnosis (for example, a torn ligament or a disc problem)
- What exercises to do for a condition we have not evaluated in person
- How many visits a specific case will need before it is examined
For any of these, the right next step is an in-person evaluation, not a general answer.
